If you are planning your holidays, and are thinking of taking a cruise or tour organised by Riviera Travel, then you may be interested in an agreement we have with Riviera – a scheme they operate with numerous u3as across the UK that are set up as charities (as we are). It’s called their “Affinity Scheme”. Any holiday booked with Riviera Travel is eligible, provided the person booking mentions “u3a York” when booking. Once the holiday is completed, Riviera will send 10% (yes, 10%) of the basic cost of the holiday as a charitable donation to the Third Age Trust who will forward 9% of the cost of the holiday to u3a York.

The amount of this donation is calculated on the base holiday cost of ALL travellers on the booking, and friends and family can also make their own bookings and benefit u3a York the same way.  Funds that are donated by Riviera will be tracked by our Treasurer, and will be used to support the running of u3a York and our Groups, for the benefit of all members. 

There are three important points to note:

• u3a York is not endorsing Riviera Travel as a supplier of holidays.
• Neither u3a York nor any of the committee/trustees have received, or will receive any benefit or incentive from Riviera other than the donations to u3a York from the Affinity Scheme as described above.
• Donations from the Affinity Scheme are paid directly to u3a York, and are not payable to the individual who made the booking. 

If you are already considering Riviera for your holiday, then we would encourage you to consider helping u3a York in this way – it’s as simple as mentioning u3a York when you book!!
