Coach Travel

Our normal coach for a day trip is a comfortable 53 seater, with a toilet and usually charging points. We do not allocate seating. There is no allocation of seating on the coach.

Journey times

We usually leave between 8am and 9am from three pickup points that have proved practical with experience. The coach always leaves each pickup point promptly, we regret that we cannot wait for members if they are delayed. The aim is to return to York by 6pm, traffic permitting. We expect members to return to the coach at the expected time to leave a venue. The coach drops off travellers at the same three places as the pickup points, additional stops cannot be requested.

Mobility

The description for each trip will include a note of any particular issues such as long walks or many steps. Travellers are encouraged to check with venues websites to ensure they will be suitable.

Fitness to travel

Please do not travel if you are not well enough on the day to enjoy it. We ask travellers to provide an emergency contact for the day, this has very occasionally been used to assist members taken ill during the trip.

Unable to travel

Members unable to travel with little notice should ideally send a text to the travel mobile, as things can be hectic around departure time. Or if phoning, do leave a message.

Refunds will only be possible if substitutes can be found, should there be a waiting list. Refunds will be made by bank transfer. If a cheque is requested instead, postage may be deducted.

Food

Food options vary greatly with each venue, details will be published, travellers may prefer a packed lunch to allow maximum time for the attractions.

Weather

It goes without saying that this cannot be organised! Coats or umbrellas can be left on the coach if taken and not needed.

Environmental considerations

u3a York has an environmental policy that the Travel Team have contributed to. We expect members to use reusable items wherever possible and to take home recyclables and rubbish used on the day trips.

Terms and conditions

These appear on our webpage, and we expect all travellers to comply.

Maps

Maps of the coach pickup points are on our web page, and trip organisers will issue copies of paper maps for day trips if they are appropriate.
