If you have recently acquired a Drone, you will already have discovered that that there is an enormous learning curve, involving, among other things:
- picking a suitable drone
- learning how to fly safely
- learning how to take interesting photos and video
- where to fly legally (and safely)
- how Weather impacts drone flying
- how to conduct yourself around other Dronies, The Public, and Authentic Officialdom
- the legal requirements and restrictions
- learning how to turn your raw creations into works of art
This group is intended as a co-operative learning experience. Meetings, notionally on Monday afternoons or ad-hoc according to people’s availability, will be outdoors in drone-safe locations to work cooperatively in doing outdoor filming and flying.
Aspiring members will need to have, or be about to get, a drone, and have or be on track to getting an Operator ID and a Flyer ID. Familiarity with the CAA's Drones and Model Aircraft site will be necessary. I strongly recommend Drones in the sub 250 gram category, as they have the least flight restrictions levied by the CAA. I personally am enjoying a DJI Mini 2. Very helpful if you bring a tablet or ‘Notebook’ for editing and displaying your productions.
